PINK OUT!!!
Pink Out Night was, once again, a HUGE stuccess. Each year in October the Volleychiefs host a Pink Out Night in order to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and the Stephanie Phillips Foundation. This night is always successful due to our sponsors, Big M Marina, who head up the tshirt sales and "Businesses that Give a Poo" donations. Thank you to Brian and Jenny Dixon for continuing to sponsor and grow this event. This year the teams got in the spirit...big time! The coaches put hot pink floor tape down to outline the volleyball court, we played with a pink volleyball, all teams wore pink hair ribbons, the freshmen and varsity teams wore pink socks and the JV dyed their knee pads pink. Even Glendale wore pink jerseys. We also had a very special guest, Leslie Hicks, Senior Zoe Allen's Aunt, who was our Honorary Coach that sat on the bench during the varsity match. This night is always about honoring the survivors, remembering those that have lost their battle to cancer and giving back to our community. A victory over Glendale was (pink) icing on the cake :-)
Zoe and her Aunt Leslie who was our Honorary Coach. Aunt Leslie was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently in treatment to beat it! She was so touched to sit with our team and be part of Pink Out Night. We were honored to have her!
The Varsity girls ran out of the Tiki Hut, which had been in the gym for homecoming decorations. Courtney Kinney led the team and knee skated out onto the court!
What an AMAZING crowd!!!
We have the best Pink Out crowds!

Senior Night 2011
This year we have 5 seniors. Zoe Allen, Annelise Dixon, Jessye Maurer, Kinsey McCarter, and Blaire Miller were honored during Senior Night, October 11th as we hosted Joplin High School. The seniors are escorted out by their parents and siblings while a few short memories are read aloud. After the games the seniors enjoy a nice cake and punch reception. Enjoy the pics!
Banding Together: Kickapoo vs. Joplin
Kickapoo hosted the Joplin Lady Eagles on October 11th. We made this a night of honoring our neighbors and banding together to help with Joplin's rebuilding efforts. During the volleyball match, all Joplin and Kickapoo players, managers and coaches wore matching maroon sequined headbands to show unity on the court. Prior to the Varsity volleyball match the Senior Volleychiefs presented the Joplin team a large donation to help with their equipment needs for their volleyball program. We also sent them home with gourmet cupcakes on the bus to top off the night. We hoped to signify that even though we battle it out on the court, we are truly in the fight together. We are neighbors helping neighbors. We do it because we care.

Varsity Team Bonding
Each year the teams do their own little bonding session. This year the Varsity did a lake retreat that was rather...frigid, and fun, of course! Cold temps and cold water didn't stop the girls as they stayed down at Big M Marina for a night. The girls enjoyed tubing, jumping off the cliff, bonfires and bonding. Fortunately, they remained hypothermia and injury free!

Practice Shenanigans
The Volleychiefs have been quick to prove that life can't always be serious. Here are just a few of the unconventional practice moments caught on camera...
Lauren, Kylie, Kim & Aliyah briefly thought they were at swim practice! Here they are modeling Kelsey's swim caps.
This is a pic of the Varsity team playing on their knees. They figured they could still beat the JV w/o being able to jump. Well...
...They won the first rally. Whatever!
Bert Boyd, our favorite St. Johns Athletic Trainer, was the proud recipient of one of the Varsity's practice shirts. He loved it ;)
Annndd, this is what happens when I leave my phone unattended. This is my new background...thank you Courtney and Zoƫ!
Fun times @ The Poo :)

A Strong Start for the Volleychiefs
The Varsity Volleychiefs took the top honor in their first tournament of the season. They played at Willard this past weekend and were able to maintain their undefeated record against tough opponents like Willard and Winona.
Way to go, ladies!
The team is currently 8-0 and gearing up for Republic and Camdenton in regular season matches this week. Plus, they will compete in the Springfield Classic on Saturday...a tournament filled with talented teams from KC, St Louis, Arkansas and the Springfield area.
Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association Preseason State rankings put the Kickapoo Volleychiefs at 7th in the state. The Volleychiefs have set some big goals this season and are off to an awesome start!

Annual Pizza Scrimmage
Each year the Volleychief Booster Club hosts their Annual Pizza Scrimmage. This is a night where we get together and stuff our faces with pizza and dessert, the daughters play their parents in a game of volleyball, and we sign everyone up for booster club duties. Below are a few pics from the night.
